Never any action in the YJ chat, so I figured I'd start one. Looking at winches and winch bumpers for the YJ, any suggestion on good brands?? Warn is always a good choice for the winch, but kinda pricy....anyone have any experience with others?
Just wanna get a feel for what other people with YJs have. If you post some pics, that would be cool. _________________ 94 YJ Sahara

Just thought I would list the obvious. I found this in about 5 minutes.
There is alot of debate on how far the bumpers should come out. Some people think that just covering the frame gives better approach angles. I think without some protection you will tear up some steering components not to mention it is just safer on the freeways. I like the style of the Hansons and Bestop brands but they cost alot.
I have an Olympic rear bumper and it is made very well and have no complaints. My buddy and I ordered a Rock Hard front bumper for his TJ. It had the built in winch plate and I have to say that was the easiest install I had done and worth the money considering the winch plate was built in. _________________ Tim

I found a bunch of pics on the net too, but I wanted to see what people with YJs in the club have. Mainly 'cause I dont see much conversation in the YJ section, and wanted to see what my square brethren have _________________ 94 YJ Sahara

Not sure if this helps but this is my setup. Cheap 3" tube bumper, Smittybilt raised winch plate, Smittybilt XRC-8000 winch. Had to hammer down the top tube a small amount to clear the roller fairlead but the hammered section can be covered with a small oval shaped piece of skateboard tape. Looks half way decent and works just fine and was cheap. Thought of doing the tube rear bumper also since the front one came on the Jeep.

I guess bumpers have to be functional too. But ya have to consider what you want the vehicle to be able to do. So, the breakover and departure angles have to be figured into the equation if you're going to wheel it seriously.
A delimia arises when your Jeep is also a tow vehicle and you have to lose ground clearance (departure angle) in the rear for the trailer hitch. It is doable, but a consideration... _________________
